Old people in prison • Like an old age home o Taken care of, given meals, put to bed at 6 o Empty, hopeless, deteriates you • Have "pill call" 5 times a day • Have all sorts of mental illnesses • 60,000 - 75,000$ for older people bc of all the medical care they need (states, higher in canada) • All kinds of medical illnesses • Spread infections bc they are close together • Some men are on their death bed • Prisons turning into hospitals • Health care is an concern for aging prisoners • Have conferences that they go to that they can learn more about their health • Older men change their behaviour, feel like they are a lost life • No longer have skills to survive on the
