Victim"s services may be available through police. Detective may contact victim and vice-versa: can contact investigating officers, may be difficult to contact attorney. Crowns may confer for plea bargain: victim impact statement would be useless because the sentence has already been made. May attend court: may testify through screen so they are not around the offender, no guarantee they can attend court. Monday, february 29, 2016: offered in french and in english, not assisted for child care or parking costs during court, only covered if you are called as a witness. Limited access to crowe file: if victims want victims transcripts, they need to pay for that, if the attorney asked for it, then they can share it with the victim. Must apply for compensation within 1 year after crime. Belonging used as evidence returned after trial or appeal process is over: can be a long time.
