Social problems grew bigger when they moved. Even though they lived together, still no running water, family life was a bit sheltered, everybody looked after one another. Problem was less likely to be hidden due to close proximity of neighbours. Progress as detrimental to the social health of the community. Belief that social services intervention serves to break-up families. Bail hearings take place over the phone. Community feeling that families must remain together at all costs: If a woman leaves her husband, she is ostracized and the gossip is very bad . The traditional way of life means that it"s written in stone that you never leave your husband no matter what . Several years ago the community had a women"s shelter, which was closed. A lot of people were against the shelter because they thought it would destroy families and break down marriages. Comprised of anonymity; distance to other communities. Respondents envisaged a new approach to dealing with violence.
