Document Summary
Objects/techno should be conceived of as mediators, not intermediaries. An object, such as a technological dispositive, is an agent if/because: it bends the space around itself. Taser for example; transforms the space between user and perpetrator into safe space: it makes other elements dependant on it, it translates the will of other elements into its own language. Objects fold other elements (including programs and anti-program: all contradictions are embedded into the objects, the objects plan for perverse uses. In daily life: techno = application of science materialized into a thing . Translator: takes meaning and transforms it, output is a little different. Mediator: changes what it connects, forces what it connects to adapt not inert. Think about thingness as an inert object. Tend to focus our attention on the material to a certain extent, but focuses our attention away from the relationship it has to other objects. Objects are networks, articulation of many things.
