Homicide statistics: we have to use rates to understand the criminal statistics, 1970 relative decline, overall decline after 1970 but there is still a few spikes in mid-2000 and late 1900, there is correlation between poverty and crime. Accused-victim relationship for solved homicide: total solved homicide-458, majority of the people who are killed know their killer rather than being a stranger. Workplace fatalities in canada 1993-2005: 6. 8, more than homicide, the death in the workplace is due to negligence are dealt with differently. International homicide rates 2008: us and turkey have much higher homicide rates than canada. Total police reported crime in canada: 56% property crime, 18% violent crimes. Canadian crime rates/ 100000 (year 2009: more minor crimes are becoming reported due to very serious/major crimes. Canadian criminal code offences: as people get older people stop committing crimes, maturing out of crimes.
