Social context plays a large role in what as seen as the norm . Social status can also play a role people act (or are acted upon) differently because of whom they are. Differential treatment i. e. a police officer that is off duty and caught drinking-and-driving will most likely be let go, or go unnoticed. Age: depending on age, some acts will be seen as deviant, or not. 10 year old having a fit compared to a 40 year old. 12-17 you are considered a youth (limited criminal responsibility) Moral panic: occurs when a condition episode, person or group of persons is defined as a threat to societal values and interests. H1n1, gang violence, parents against violent video games/movies, terrorism, witch-hunt, and global-warming. Moral entrepreneurs: can be a group, formal organization, or individual. These people try to persuade that there in fact is and issue, and we should be concerned against it. Folk devils: blamed for issues by moral entrepreneurs.
