The state of nature = the condition of war. The natural equality combined with scarce goods yields conflict. This is the condition of war: war consists not in battle only or the act of fighting, but in a tract of time wherein the will to battle is sufficiently known. Bellum omnium contra omnes (cid:271)ut(cid:862) so the (cid:374)ature of (cid:449)ar consists not in actual fighting but in the known disposition thereto duri(cid:374)g all the ti(cid:373)e there is (cid:374)o assura(cid:374)(cid:272)e to the (cid:272)o(cid:374)trar(cid:455). The state of nature is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. A2- if two or more people compete for the same good, each has a reason to attack the others. A3- everyone has a reason to attack everyone else, A4- e(cid:448)er(cid:455)(cid:271)od(cid:455) else i(cid:374) the state of (cid:374)ature k(cid:374)o(cid:449)s (cid:862)a1(cid:863) to (cid:862)a3(cid:863). A5- everyone has a reason to attach everyone else, The notions of right and wrong, justice and injustice, have there no place.
