Historic materialism: based on material, based on economic standings, advances through history. Dialectic materialism: slave based societies, shift in the base of production. These are the laws of history, it has momentum on its own, the bourgeoisies, are the exploiter, and the exploited are the labourers. What you need to get out of the capitalist system to a socialist then to a communist system, which is utopia.
