War is often when rights come most clearly into view think of hobbes (do we have a right to object to war) Trotsky (revolutionary): i am not interested in war, but war is interested in everyone of us . We tend to think about war through specific lenses (ex: remembrance day, remembering history) Every one of us live in imminent death every second of every day (this is a good thing) We need to think about war in economic, political, and symbolic terms. Feudal era if i wanted to kill someone, i had to physically do it. Knights are apart of a symbolic economy. They had visions of the world, about what conflict meant to them. They knew why they were fighting and what they were fighting for. Paying infantry to fight for a certain country, fighting not based in ethics.
