The actual words themselves are important: ex. You want to exploit the authority of the source therefore you use the authors actual words to make your point more forceful. Do not: provide a long quotation when the information can be summarized or paraphrased, quote without explaining the significance, use a quotation for a thesis statement or a topic sentence.
