It"s neglected for 10 years gets wild and unpleasant; but there"s still a little bit of life in it; just needs some care and cultivated; but not too much, some will be just fine if left alone. Mary/colin themselves say they don"t want to over care for the garden. The flowers are the ones that need most attention; become the most beautiful correlated to colin/mary = upper of society; high status; high power; who need to the most attention too.
