NGOs: Alternative Power Base for Women

-economic and social council (assists in promote internal economic and social cooperation
and development)
-international court of justice (primary judicial organ)
-trusteeship council
-secretariat (provides studies, information and facilities needed)
-poverty reduction strategy paper: new lending agreements that replaced SAPs as the primary
means of funding low income countries to promote growth and reduce poverty
-ownership in lending: countries must set their own relations and priorities in borrowing that
include all voices of stakeholders
-social capital: addresses vulnerability that allows increasing networks and like to access
services (funding programs that help build social capital)
-empowering the poor to combat the voicelessness: a process through which poor people are
mobilized for their economic and social betterment
-NGOs challenging the state
-intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) working with INGOs within and above the state
