Four physiographic regions: great lakes st lawrence lowlands : Mining and forestry: canadian shield : Cree, inuit and innu communities: hudson bay lowlands : Sources of pollution: agricultural, industrial and mining waste, dam building, sewage disposal, fracking, invasive species wiping out ecosystems. Trade-off : allure of jobs/economic opportunity vs. environment cost. New france (1608 1760) : first permanent french settlement by samuel de champlain in. Qu bec city: territorial basis for french empire in north america, after 100 years, people identify as canadian instead of french. By early 18th century, people turn to farming.
