Analysis: break down each solution to its key components. Evaluation: making a judgement about the value of such components. Design criteria: based on customer needs, metrics used to determine the value of a design. Different solutions are put against the same design criteria to see the best design. Design criteria should be generated before solutions, with the user. Heater should be made black for optimal heat transfer but usually a different colour for aesthetic reasons. Asking customers directly doesn"t always work either, they might not know what they want, different people have different opinions, and that"s why we use a scientific method. We assign numbers to design criteria and weights if necessary as well. To weight, look at each criteria on its own and compare it one above. Create a matrix and let math take care of it.
