Dismantling the treaty of versailles: hitler"s goal as soon as he comes into power, neville chamberlain chief architect of appeasement. Why appeasement: fr and gb are supposed to enforce the treaty, but they reneged on those obligations because, they suffered tremendously during war and want to prevent another war at almost any cost. Esp. b/c they know advances in warfare technology will make the next war worse: critics of versailles exist all over europe, not just germany. In gb keynes is a vocal opponent of the treaty for crippling germany: fear of communism. Means they are more likely to look favourably on right wing dictators like. Hitler and mussolini because they"re not communist: real sentiment of awe and adoration of hitler and nazi germany. Charles linberg who is quite popular is us is in awe of germany, goes and visits gr and comes back and says lots of good things.
