HSS 4107 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: The Slippery Slope, American Medical Association, Theism
Document Summary
If you cannot prove that there is no definite abuse of the action, you cannot just say (cid:862)the(cid:396)e is a slippe(cid:396)(cid:455) slope(cid:863). The premise is immodest, a gross exaggeration. You cannot compare our democratic society with nazi fascism. The people the nazis picked were not ill or suffering, but the people who are dying in our society are ill and terminally suffering. The nazis do not like biological equality or the constitutional form of it: that we have equal freedom. Type of cases and statistics do not line up either. The slippery slope enthusiasts love to compare countries to the nazis, and holland. Holla(cid:374)d, (cid:373)a(cid:396)ijua(cid:374)a is legal a(cid:374)d so is p(cid:396)ostitutio(cid:374), it is (cid:862)si(cid:374) (cid:272)it(cid:455)(cid:863): the debbie case. In 1988, in the journal of the american medical association, a letter was anonymously se(cid:374)t titled (cid:862)it"s o(cid:448)e(cid:396) de(cid:271)(cid:271)ie(cid:863). It would lead to a slippery slope, and that patients will fall prey to this euthanasia.
