Neither positive nor negative but reactions can be positive of negative. Stress can lead to psychological and social problems. Our reaction to stress can become habits that lead to health enhancing or debilitating health effects. Is a cause of many health problems including migraines, alcohol and drug dependence, etc. Stressor: any physical, social or psychological event or condition that causes our bodies to have to adjust to specific situations. Strain: the wear and tear of our bodies and minds causes by stress and stressor. Eustress: positive stress that presents an opportunity for personal growth and satisfaction. Distress: negative stress cause by events such as financial problems, injury, illness, trouble at work, academic difficulties or relationship problems. Psycho-neuro-immunology (pni) studies have suggested that immune systems are compromised in stressed individuals.
