How comfortable you feel about your body. Disconnect between idealized images and typical body. Can enhance or disrupt children"s body image. How you look is most important thing. Anyone can be thin and attractive (willpower) Perceived lack of muscles, facial blemishes, etc. Atypical eating behaviors to achieve lower weight, not diagnosed clinically. Severe disturbances in body image and eating. Many factors involved: not a simple equation. Clinical depression, alcohol abuse, and other addictions. Anorexia nervosa: obsession with food, self-starvation, and/or extreme exercising. Bodyweight: not healthy for age and height (bmi values) Intense fear of gaining weight: becoming fat. Binge eating: behaviour to prevent weight gain. At least once a week, for 3 months. No abnormal attitudes: dieting; body weight, shape. Binge eating, 1+ times a week (3 months) Binge eating, not associated with compensatory behaviour. New ways: handle stress and control life. Do not take on role of therapist. Conversation guide: focus on feelings and relationships.
