Very important that we have legislation that protects individuals against discrimination and prejudice. In order to build empathy its important to think back to instances where you felt stressed/ judged. Want to be able to think about words people say and things people to that make people feel marginalized, different. Goal is to provide quality leisure experience, need to think about these things in order to address them when programming / try to avoid them occurring or at least be aware that they may be present. Stereotypes assumptions that are made based on the dimensions of diversity. Ex sex: assumptions made about men and women. (they can be positive or negative attributes) Refer to actions taken based on those stereotypes.
