Oceans have supported the lifestyles of canadian culture: first nations, fishers, used to have a wonderful bounty to sustain these societies, there used to be enough resources for them. Today: renewability and sustainability has come into question: humans have exploited fish stocks of oceans, marine, renewability of resources is under question mammals, sea birds, etc. 70% of marine species have reached or exceeded sustainable levels: humans have used to such an extent that these populations are not sustainable. 1995: united nations food and agricultural organization: adopted formal code of conduct for responsible fisheries. If you were involved in fishing, you were obligated to do so in a responsible manner to ensure the conservation and management of aquatic resources.
