LSR 2122 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Inductive Reasoning, Operationalization, Nursing Process
Document Summary
We have a distinct body of knowledge that belongs to nurses and that is why nursing is considered a profession. We will probably be involved in a research project on our own at some point in our career. Producing research though tends to go more with the masters route. There are other ways to be involved in research: participate in meetings, assisting in data collection, discussing the implications/relevance of research, could also assist in recruiting potential participants. Unstructured: tradition: you carry on doing something one way because its always been done that way, if things change though, it may no longer be the best way, authority: been instructed to do it that way. But you have to watch as things evolve and change the way you were originally taught: clinical experience; trial and error; intuition: see what works for you and what gives you the best results. Structured: disciplined research: systematic and reliable ways to obtain information.
