Use dark field microscopy; white light shining underneath. Primary syphilis: chancre; a sore after 3 or 4 weeks. Secondary: 6 weeks after chancre, generalized or local rash. Can affect skin, joint, ns, and heart. Bulls eye rash; does not occur where the tic bites you.
