Document Summary
Produce exotoxins (cause damage in the body) released by bacteria. Produce a capsule made from proteins (which is rare) powerful antigens, it protects it from being killed and it allows it to survive. Aerobic- grows in presence of oxygen (produces pores) by making spores makes them resistant to things that can kill them (heating drying, disinfectant, uv) Plasmid dna antibiotic resistance (good thing for bacteria) Pxo1- 3 different genes (make up the exotoxin) require all 3 proteins to be active. Diff-disease they cause is different food poisoning when spore enters. Diff-don"t have a capsule & are resistant to penicillin. Rice products wash rice then cook it . When you bowl rice it will be in the spore form and it you will be fine. (no toxin) Clostridium botulimum- bind to wear actey needs to bind to contract. therefore no contracting can take place- paralysis. Infant botulism exception (symptoms of botulism but have not come in contact with toxin just spore. )
