Deliverate dynamics- sof in the intro, and then build up. A lot of melodic lines that keep coming fordward. Not riff based, guitar melody more as guitar riff. Conventional back beat (rock)- its very up front. 80s paisley undergorund scene in california: blend of folk-rock, psycheledlia and garage rock (the dream syndicate, the bandles, green on red, etc) Rough vocals (not like punk as in screaming) Mayor difference btw verse and chorus: verse are in the melodic plane, and the chorus has layers of overdubbed distorted guitars. Noise rock element focus on the instrumental texture. Vocals are softer and burried in the mix. The vocal presentation also makes it sound a little gothic (high vocals) Some moments of chaos sound- through effects of distortion, feedback, etc. Dry texture- you are not hearing reverb, echo, effects, its just dry clean voice guitar and drums. Sense of intimacy created by the vocal presentation.
