The vocal is imperfect- no trained: connection to punk. It has some elements that are lighter poppy - but not pop its new wave. Blondie: is new wave punk, because the underlying unstrumentation is punk, pop was more produced that why this song is not pop. Wire, i am the fly (chairs missing 1978) More artistic than poppy- we hear elemtns of disco, and synthesizer. The clash, death and glory (london calling, 1979) For this track, either new wave or post but if you look at the context it its actually post. Creates a sense of distance- feeling that voice is in the background echoing. Delivery is detached, because there is no emphasis or emotions in the vocal. The drum kit is in the surface, so the rhym is central here. Extreme style of punk: very fast, loud, ahrd, frenetic. Emerged in the late 80s and early 90s. Influenced by garage rock (60s) and post punk (late 70s)
