NSG 2317 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Jugular Venous Pressure, Heart Valve, Aortic Valve
Document Summary
Precordium anterior in the chest: mediastinum. Pericardium tough, fibrous double walls sac, has two layers where pericardial fluid is: myocardium muscular wall of the heart that does the pumping. Endocardium layer of endothelial tissue that lines the inner parts of heart chambers and valves. Cardiac cycle p. 483 (these won"t be on the exam) First heart sound (s1 closure of av valve, beginning of systole) Second heart sound (s2 closer of semilunar valves and signals end of systole) Extra heart sounds (s3 or s4 not normal) Third heart sound (s3 ventricular filling creates a vibration, can hear over chest wall, normally diastole should be silent, if oyu hear it it will occur after s2) Fourth heart sound (s4 occurring when ventricles are resistant to filling ventricular resistance, hear a vibration it will occur right before s1) Murmurs: blowing, swooshing sounds heard throughout chest wall. Conduction pqrst qrs is a positive deflection (gone up) St is also important elevation or depression.
