Nurse will be advocate for this: notify fam md or obstetrician, continuous presence w woman (nurse, doula, partner, reduces anxiety, comfort measures (ex. Increased rates of c-section or instrumental vag births. Increases lenth of 2nd stage b/c inhibits urge to bear down and ability to be upright (sometimes have walking epidural) Decelerations none or occasional uncomp. variables or early decels.
