Document Summary
Tuesday, march 29, 2016 sampling and survey research. A major method of quantitative research: academic research. Different countries including canada: non-academic research. Respondent cannot be identified: participation is voluntary. Standardized/structured interviews and questionnaires: used in survey research. Produce standardization in the asking of questions and the recording of answers. The same questions are asked in the same order. Standardized/structured interviews: reduce error due to interviewer variability, the characteristics of the interviewer may influence the responses given. Questionnaires are essentially structured interviews without an interviewer. Involve filling out a form which is then returned to the researcher, often by mail, email or online: contain a list of survey questions and answers, used to administer surveys, helpful in analyzing survey data. The question should be asked exactly as stated: small changes to wording can make a big difference. Similarly, the answers should be recorded as exactly as possible. Questions should be asked in the order they are given on the interview schedule.
