Embryo is a potential human being, a stage of devt of a human. The study of cells may provide insight into disease and its amelioration as well as insight into the regeneration of diseased or damaged organs (p. 1). Research on human embryos helps to produce more effective reproductive technologies (ivf: in. In canada it is, under strict conditions, to destroy embryos in the context of research on stem cells. But an account of moral standing or criteria is required in order to determine whose suffering matters and which beings have rights or not. These are the questions that raise from the moral standing of human embryos. Human embryo has no moral standing (sagan & singer) a. b. the starting point. Because it has the potential to develop into a full being, that is to say an individual that clearly possesses moral standing. That is why we have direct obligations to them.
