Document Summary

Hegel"s theory is dumb because it"s saying you can only be someone if someone else decided it. It is contradictory: i am here and not here existence is something that can"t be systematic. Hegel"s system is contradictory; he made it, so it must be contradictory . Ex: i have to be outside the dog house in order to construct the dog house. For kierkegaard, the individual self exists first and thinks after. How is it possible to stay attached to reasonable discourse but reject reason itself: he writes under pseudonyms (alias), so that no one can personally contradict his theories. He therefore never needs to prove himself when someone demands consistency. He also does not need to worry that his various authors contradict themselves: irony, quotes shakespeare, it"s an escape from the existential truth of living in the paradox and being safe.
