If we take love as wanting to desire good/beautiful forever, it becomes the desire for immortality: we desire something we can never achieve. How can we fulfill it: diotima we can, in ways, fulfill this desire, there are 2 fundamental kinds of giving birth and beauty giving physical birth. And spiritual giving birth to new ideas, concepts, literature, poetry, art, etc. Itself: beauty itself is beautiful all the time for everyone (in every respect, in every way, at every time) By definition, it is beautiful in all ways: at stage 6 beauty itself, the lover finds something beautiful absolutely and completely (which is what they"ve been seeking all along) Love (as a spirit) connects us to a higher reality that is unperishing, unchanging, eternal, that transcends us (far beyond us: only the lover who has achieved stage 6 can give birth to true virtue.
