Our apprehension of the world of name and form is deluded. The mistake comes in taking one thing for another (superimposition) Something is there, however it is not what you assume. As a result of the mistake, you are frightened. An obstruction producing a different illusion than what is there. Objects and their attributes are superimposed on the interior self . Mistake we make about the ultimate nature of the self. The mistake is that we superimpose upon the true nature of the self, the character of other objects and their attributes. Character of the self is different from objects. Cannot doubt the existence of the self. The i of atman as pure consciousness. Atman is the pure subjectivity that lies behind all. If you turn yourself into an object, atman looks at you. Awareness of the individual self is temporarily eliminated through meditative practices (pure consciousness will still be there; non directional, non intentional)
