There were 9 rounds in total: 8 under gatt, 1 under the wto (delayed) Gatt and the wto are not separate entities rather, the wto is the gatt on steroids ; just an embodiment of the accumulation of the previous eight rounds of negotiations. Joining the wto involves adopting and implementing all the principles of the wto no cherry picking. Adopt the package of tariff+ regulations, as per the uruguay decision. Increases perceived legitimacy of wto decisions ( we all agreed ) Aimed to better account for the interests and needs of developing countries, especially related to agriculture or trade in agriculture.
