Structuralism: an early school of psychology that used introspection to explore the structural elements of the human mind. James admitted mary whiton calkins into his graduate seminar but in doing so the other students (all men) dropped out. While the conflicts are revealed in almost every aspect of everyday life, when extreme, they result in psychological disorder. Freud"s framework led to a theory of personality and a distinct form of psychotherapy. Behaviourism: the view that psychology (1) should be an objective science that (2) studies behaviour without reference to mental processes.
