Why do we need psychological science: why science based answers are more valid than personal ones. Psychology: the scienti c study of the mind and behaviour. There fore intuition can be misleading so science helps further understanding ex. If you look on a desk, you may see a pencil, a laptop etc that"s intuition. However, science tells us that on our desk their is also bacteria and viruses. Common sense is acquired from previous knowledge from learning/ experience. Therefore, common sense doesn"t generate new knowledge ex. it"s not common sense that tells us not to put our hand on something hot, it"s from touching something hot that we understand the effect. I knew it all along phenomenon the tendency to believe, after learning a conclusion, that it was obvious ex. When someone tells you the answer of a riddle that seems so obvious after hearing it but without knowing the answer it was not that obvious.
