Devised tests that approximated modern iq tests. Intelligence should be measured by task performance, reasoning and problem solving ability. Slow children are like normal ones but retarded in mental growth. People compared to others of same age and 100 = average iq. Devised a scale to measure ability to reason. Distribution of iq is that of a normal curve like a bell curve. Most people are at 100, extremes are the least at the edges. Most characteristics measured in a large amount usually peaks at the middle (ex. 68% (about 2/3) of distribution: between 85 and 115. 96% of cases are between 70 and 130.
