People are cognitive misers- prefer to think as little as possible when making decisions. Use heuristics ( mental shortcuts) in everyday life. Availability heuristic- a mental shortcut that estimates the probability of an event to happen by how quick it comes to life. Mental shortcuts create biases in how we interpret the world around us. Article examines some of the everyday biases that cloud or ability for accurate critical thinking. John stuart mill and betrand russell are two classic scholars that have ofte noticed the shortcommings of human judgment. Bacon- believers observe events that are fulfilled but neglect to their failure which is more often. People aoften impressed with an absolute statisti without recognition that its true value can only be assessed when capered to a baseline.
