Part of diff in a characteristic in a pop is attributed to genetics. Compare monozygotic (mz) vs. dizygotic (dz) twins. Idea behind it: since both sets are twins, if mz twins are more similar, the only difference b/w mz twins and dz twins are that mz twins are genetically identical. Therefore, any greater similarities between mz must be due to genes. Are mz twins + dz twins the same? (aside from genetics) It"s assumed that twins share same family enviro and main diffs = genes. Both mz + dz twins can have diff enviros (non-shared), each sibling can be treated differently or experience diff enviro. Mz twins might be treated more similarly + have more similar enviro vs dz twins.
