History of the study of the sexes

• Structuralism (what structurally makes them diff), functionalism (what in the body makes them
different eg reproductive system). Behaviourism (what makes them behave diff, i.e woman
more nurturing etc), psychoanalysis (what mentally make us the same and different in the
brain?)

• Psychology tends to ignore woman- women have contributed to psychology
• Some woman avoid saying they are woman in their publishing to not be ignored and so on
• Gender study emphasizes differences
