Raising children: society can only continue if we keep having children, having children is a "natural" part of adult life, myth of motherhood, can never have a more profound experience than having a child. Fertility rates: how many children a woman will have during her reproductive life, over the past 50 years, significant drop in canadian fertility rate. It changes over time: 1959: 3. 93 children per woman, 2000: 1. 49 children per woman, 2009: 1. 7 children per woman. Differences in fertility rates of immigrant groups: cultural effect, different values and norms regarding fertility, selection effect, convergence effect, disruptive effect.
