When depressed, you sleep a lot not always the case! Some people have variability in their sleep. Aeschbach: most people need a certain amount of sleep to function, people who don"t need as much sleep are fine getting by with less sleep, definitely replicated. Ss: more health problems, more likelihood of being obese, extreme = bad for you. More effect size in self-report because people who volunteer for experiments are usually. Knutson: not clear whether this is a bad thing or whether we don"t really need that sleep anyway. Women: 3-4 hours/night = high self-report of insomnia; more hours = less insomnia, bmi healthier weight when people approach normal amount of sleep.
