i. American Psychological Association (2006): Intergration of best avalible research evidence
and clinical expertise within the context of patient values and preferences.
ii. Canadian Psychological Association (2012): emphasis on (a) published, peer reviewed
research to inform treatment options, an (b) use of ongoing monitoring of treatment
effects.
Informing Practice Levels of Ideality
i. Systematic knowledge synthesis ideally combining high internal and external validity.
ii. Primary research studies that collectively have high internal validity and external validity.
iii. Primary research studies that collectively have limited internal and external validity.
iv. Expert consensus based on formal procedures
v. Unpublished data, professional experience, prior experience.
Work in a cyclic nature, bottom levels act as treatment monitoring and can be used as outcome
evaluation.
