Alcohol is eliminated within hours, thc stays in the body for a week so there are less abrupt withdrawal symptoms. Heavy use associated with a shrinkage of brain areas that processes memories and emotions. Prenatal exposure through maternal use impairs brain development. Medical marijuana use is granted to relieve pain and nausea associated with diseases such as aids and cancer, delivering thc with medical inhalers because marijuana smoke is toxic and can cause cancer, lung damage etc.
