Document Summary
Which processing system has more influence on judgments: jonathan haidt. Evaluations of the actions or character of a person: moral judgments are almost exclusively the result of intuition. Behaviours are compared to an unconscious set of virtues. Doesn"t mean that one can"t be conscious of the values they hold: reasoning exists, and it has an important purpose. But it has a relatively smaller role in determining our moral judgments. Moral intuition precedes moral reasoning: rationalist models. Behaviours are considered in light of particular values. Harm, fairness, violation of rights: care perspective. Moral judgments are not evident until a rational analysis of all pertinent factors has been performed. One acts as a judge while performing their moral reasoning. They carefully weigh issues of harm, rights, fairness, responsibility: moral intuition. The intuition comes rst, and then this is followed by a rational justi cation of the intuition.
