Principles of social behavior: motives social behavior is goal- orientated, establish social ties. Define reality: understand others and ourselves. Social psychology"s theoretical frameworks: the main theoretical frameworks of social psychological research are, self- esteem perspective. Looks for the cause of the social behavior within the person. Cause tends to be more emotional. People want to view themselves positively. Modify our behavior to do so. Come up with justifications. Emotions drive us: socio- cultural perspective. Looks at the effect from or within large social groups such as: norms within culture groups, social class differences, nationality/ethnicity. Looks for cause of behavior in the culture: culture- general context, evolutionary perspective. Animals with features suited to the demands of the environment will survive better than those with less well- adapted features.
