Scientific american frontiers season 9 episode 3: animal einsteins. Three different object with their own signs are presented, the pig can associate human signs with objects. Would need use symbol to show knowledge is beyond as association but he can"t. Can learn 24 hand symbols to represent objects. Can also answer yes or no questions. Over 130 asl signs by age five. Animals and humans could communicate using language. Can grasp abstract concepts, like answering what"s different between two objects. But for the seal it just looks like a group of symbols. Can use exclusions, go to the novel thing. Can get rewarded, then pick a different symbol and switch classes. Can relate what happens in a small room to a real size room. Humans in the same room experiment: can"t get that the model symbolizes the room until age three. Can choose the bon with more food. Each monkey only sees the trial once.
