Over the last century testing has become a big business. Can effect how students are treated, what schools students are admitted to, etc. Currently there is too much emphasis on test scores. Goddard & yerkes said that minorities are less intelligence. In the us school systems vary widely. If it was environmental upbringing hindering intelligence it may be unfair to use tests to determine educational opportunities. For much of the 20th century it was seen as hereditary. Court concluded that the intelligence tests were discriminatory and prohibited further use in california. In 1986 no more emr classes so iq tests were not used. Concerns that children weren"t getting the help they need. Crawford vs. honig where a girl"s parents wanted intelligence tests so their daughter could be given the help she needs. General aptitude test battery: career counselling, job placement. Civil rights act and equal employment opportunity commission to make sure everyone had equal opportunities.
