Each stressor will produce 2 stress responses. 2 endocrine systems: primarily involving epinephrine (adrenaline) from the adrenal medulla. (happens within seconds) Increased heat rate, respiration rate, and blood ow to the muscles. Essentially the ght or ight response: primarily involving glucocorticoids from the adrenal cortex. (happens a few minutes later) Releases the hormones glucocorticoids main one in humans = cortisol, main in animals = cortocortisone. Are produces and released by our cortex the stress system(s) 1st stress response when you rst get presented w/ a stressor that threatens your homeostasis, the info. will be recorded in your hypothalamus. 2nd stress response more slow, hypothalamus sends info to the adrenal medulla to produce epinephrine and norepinephrine and will send info to the adrenal cortex for it to produce glucocorticoids.
