Indogenous rhythm inside plant: plant will keep doing it forever but takes cues from environment, and cycle becomes shorter (23 hr instead of 24 hr) Brac idea that most animals have similar needs and have to perform activities to stay alive then rest. Sleep when 2 4 hour sleep periods were popular eg. sleep 8-12, wake 12-4, sleep 4-8. Not random, tend to want to nap every 90min (rem drive) Unrepressed rem drive, burst into life during day. Not always, but often enough to be sig. 2-3 hr afternoon sleep (early afternoon 1-3pm) Also for people who need to stay awake. Every second cycle (3hrs) hit sws little to no rem sleep deprivation.
