Nuclear: composed of one or two parents and their dependent children, all of whom live apart from other relatives. Decline in marriages, an increase in common law unions, and increase in single parent families. Marriage: a legally recognized and/or socially approved arrangement between two or more individuals that carries vertain rights and obligations and usually involves sexual activity. Monogamy: marriage to one person at a time.
